How we integrate Algolia
The integration shape.
Algolia is hosted search. It runs the on-site search and merchandising surface for a long list of mid-market and enterprise retailers, with InstantSearch on the front end and a managed indexing pipeline behind it. The trade-off is that the search experience is only as good as the index, and the index is only as good as what you push to it.
Patchworks pushes products, variants, prices, inventory state and ranking signals into Algolia from ecommerce platforms, PIMs and ERPs. Reindex cadence, partial updates and synonyms live alongside the product feed work. Conversion events flow back into Algolia for ranking and personalisation when those features are licensed.
Most search integrations live or die on the index schema. We design that schema in the open, with the merchandising team in the room.
